A program for students who wish to homeschool five days a week. This offers the most flexibility with the option to customize your curriculum and use extended units for additional classes. Parents are in control of their child's education as they teach all the subjects and complete all the grading. Families meet with a TLC credentialed educational partner (EP) every learning period. The EP provides support for all your educational needs and is a great resource for your family. In addition, Choice families have the opportunity to attend all TLC field trips and special events providing additional socialization opportunities and a connection to other homeschool families.
Middle School Study Groups
Additional support is offered for Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science at each of our Resource Centers. This two day a week program is offered during the fall and spring semester. Highly qualified, credentialed teachers work with students to master core concepts within that subject. Students use a specified curriculum to work together during the semester. This option also allows students to receive more guidance, complete group work and practice key concepts in new ways.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)
Project Lead The Way (PTLW) enables students to develop critical thinking skills through hands-on project based learning, preparing them to take on real world challenges. Students have the opportunity to create, design and build things like robots and cars, applying what they are learning in math and science to the world’s grand challenges. Throughout Gateway To Technology (GTT is PLTW's middle school curriculum), students acquire knowledge and skills in problem solving, teamwork and innovation as well as explore STEM careers. This program is offered at Chula Vista, La Mesa and Scripps Ranch Resource Centers.
